College’s NewDeal in Retail
A European wide project that is exploring ways to improve the link between learning and working in the retail sector is being pioneered at North West Regional College. Through the NEWDEAL project the College is working alongside 6 European partners, IFOA(Italy), Vision Systems (Romania), Oviedo Chamber, (Spain), INSUP FORMATION (France), V.A. Graiciunas School of Management Lithuania, Kairos S.p.A. (Italy).
Each of the partners has undertaken extensive research on the retail sector in their own country and have developed job profiles and other tools that can be used in the training and development of retail staff across the European Union. North West Regional College is currently developing a training unit on ‘Using Social Media for Business’ which will be offered to retail and other businesses in 2014.
It is hoped that employees and training managers in the retail sector will avail of the research and training provided through the project. The programme has focussed on developing training for new employees that will meet the requirements of employers within the sector.
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
