Higher Education (University Level)

The range of higher education course options at our college are available on a full-time or part-time mode of attendance, with the majority of programme levels pertaining to Foundation Degree, Higher National Diplomas / Certificates and Professional Programmes.

Each year, over 600 College graduates secure places at universities throughout the UK and Ireland, while many more find employment locally, regionally and internationally.

Higher Level Apprenticeships

The Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA)  programme is designed to meet the needs of employers for higher skill levels and leads to university equivalent qualifications. These programmes are widely recognised as the best combination of on-the-job training and employee higher level study available. They offer employees the opportunity to gain a Level 4 / Level 5 qualification (NVQ Level 4, HND, or Foundation Degree).

Successful candidates will be employed in a company relevant to their chosen profession to gain valuable experience over a 2 or 3 year period. This experience will include mentoring and academic support provided from NWRC and the employer.

The College’s vibrant learning community includes learners undertaking courses at local community centres and organisations, co-ordinated by our Community Outreach Department.

These courses enable individuals and small groups to undertake short courses in areas including Essential Skills, GCSEs, Return to Study, and Hobby & Special Interest

In a new partnership with the Northern Ireland Prison Service and the Department for Justice, NWRC is now offering a wide range of educational programmes to enhance the learning and skills of prisoners at Magilligan prison.

Courses include: Essential Skills, ICT, Carpentry, Furniture Making, Welding, Plastering & Decorating, Horticulture, Art & Design, Hospitality and Barbering.
