Higher Education Courses
University level education is changing, with more people choosing to study towards a university degree at their local college. At NWRC we offer both full and part-time higher education options including Foundation Degrees, Higher Level Apprenticeships, Higher National Certificates/Diplomas and BSc Honours Degrees. Our tuition and maintenance costs are also significantly lower than University, making NWRC a more affordable option for learners.
Once you’ve completed your qualification at NWRC you will have the opportunity to top-up your qualification to a full degree thanks to our links with a wide range of universities, including Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University and Liverpool John Moores.
Short Part-Time Courses
Refresh your future with short part-time, professional and technical qualifications available from March 2021 across our main campuses.

Higher Level Apprenticeships (HLA)
The Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) programme is designed to meet the needs of employers for higher skill levels and leads to university equivalent qualifications. These programmes are widely recognised as the best combination of on-the-job training and employee higher level study available. They offer employees the opportunity to gain a Level 4 / Level 5 qualification (NVQ Level 4, HND, or Foundation Degree).
Successful candidates will be employed in a company relevant to their chosen profession to gain valuable experience over a 2 or 3 year period. This experience will include mentoring and academic support provided from NWRC and the employer.
Community
The College’s vibrant learning community includes learners undertaking courses at local community centres and organisations, co-ordinated by our Community Outreach Department.
These courses enable individuals and small groups to undertake short courses in areas including Essential Skills, GCSEs, Return to Study, and Hobby & Special Interest
