College Beckons for Future Cooking Stars
North West Regional College is giving young people a chance to find out if they might be the next Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver, through an exciting new Saturday morning programme. Open to 12 – 16 year-olds, the Junior Chef Academy, is a fun 10 week course which will arm young people with basic cookery skills, and an insight into possible career opportunities in Catering.
The College is running the course, which costs just £5 per week, in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Chef’s Association, and participants will have the chance to meet and get tips from local celebrity chefs during the programme. The 3-hour workshops will be held in the College’s state-of-the-art Catering kitchens, allowing the potential future chefs to experience the reality of working in a busy kitchen, under expert chefs.
The Junior Chef Academy is an award-winning programme, and over the weeks the young people involved will be preparing nutritious simple meals while exploring their flair for the culinary arts. The course ends with a Graduation lunch, prepared for friends and family by the ‘Junior Chefs’.
