NWRC are now recruiting individuals for a range of FREE pre-employment training courses which include guaranteed job interviews

These short courses are fully funded through the Flexible Skills Fund or ERAP and will give individuals the skills that employers are looking for, in the areas of Construction, Electrical or IT & Customer Service.

Electrical Programme

This is a ten-week intensive programme (includes 2 weeks holidays) designed to upskill candidates to an appropriate standard to enable them to undertake and apply for work in the electrical switchgear area. This programme will include industry experts attending college to oversee sessions to help prepare and assist candidates in attaining the necessary electrical installation skills. Successful candidates will work towards a Level 2 introductory electrical EAL qualification on completion of the programme.

What you need to know

  • 10 week programme.
  • £150 per week training allowance.
  • Practical training on switchgear panels.
  • Work placement.

Eligibility

No prior electrical experience is required to join the course, however, it will be an advantage if candidates have experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and will be considered at interviewing stage.

This course is fully funded through the Skill Up – Flexible Skills Fund (Department for the Economy) if you meet the following criteria:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in Northern Ireland
  • ‘Settled’ in Northern Ireland, and been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or is a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
  • This programme is open to everyone.

IT & Customer Service - Launching Soon

This 4 week course will bring your IT & Customer Service skills right up to date, whilst boosting your interview technique and confidence to go get that new job. The course will include 2 weeks online and face-to face learning in

  • Communication skills,
  • IT & Office Skills, Interview Skills,
  • Principles of Customer Service (to include two qualifications).
  • This will be followed with a 2 week company consolidation / work placement.

    What you need to know

    • 4 week pre-employability programme.
    • This course is fully funded by ERAP.
    • £150 / week training allowance during training.
    • Guaranteed job interview with real opportunity for employment, on completion of course.
    • Employment opportunities will include the possibility of flexible working from home.
    • Proposed course start date 4th January 2022.

      Construction programme

      Construction Programme - Launching Soon

      This 8 week programme will include 6 weeks training at NWRC Springtown campus followed by 2 week placement with a local employer. On successful completion of this course you will receive a Level 1 C&G construction Skills Award and your CSR Card which will increase your employability and earning potential in the future.

      What you need to know

      • 8 week pre-employability programme.
      • Programme begins in February 2022.
      • £150 per week training allowance plus travel and childcare allowance.
      • Guaranteed job interview with real opportunity for employment upon completion.
      • 6 weeks intensive training in the Springtown Campus plus 2 weeks placement with a local employer.
      • Upon completion you will receive a L1 C&G Construction Skills Award and your CSR Card.
      • Training also includes CSR training plus the following:
      • Painting Decorating
      • Joinery
      • Plastering
      • Tiling
      • Drainage
