Course Overview

If you have ever wondered how your body works and what happens when things go wrong then this is the course for you. This two year qualification provides an insight into working within the biomedical sciences, diagnostics and medical physics professions, alongside a strong focus on the application of biological concepts within industry. You will study seven mandatory units and six optional units over the two years and will be assessed through a variety of methods including written assignments, observation of practical work, laboratory written reports and class tests.This course is perfect if you enjoy all things science related and have a particular interest in problem solving and investigation. The requirements of the qualification will help you to develop the transferable and practical skills that are highly regarded by both HE and employers. The course offers a fundamentally learner-centred approach and is majority coursework based, with some exams and externally assessed units.

4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including a Science subject, plus English and Maths

ROI Requirements

4 OLCs (Grade 05 or above) including a Science subject, plus English and Maths; OR Leaving Cert Applied - (Merit) to include one Science elective module.

Further Study

This course will provide an opportunity to progress to employment within the science industry or higher education courses, including the Foundation Degree in Applied and Medical Sciences course offered at NWRC or Honours Degree courses in Radiography, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Biological or Biomedical Sciences.
