Course Overview

This course allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Wall and Floor Tiling. Throughout the course you will develop the knowledge required to understand the processes and procedures while learning the hands on skills required to become a competent wall and floor tiler.You will develop the knowledge and skills in wall and floor tiling by undertaking such units as:• Health and Safety• Preparing Backgrounds for Tiling• Forming sand and cement screeds• Tile Wall Surfaces• Tile Floor SurfacesOur students also have the opportunity to compete in Regional and UK Competitions with the aim of representing your country at World Skills. To succeed every NWRC student requires determination, a love of the subject, commitment to your studies and a good work ethic.Students who enter programme without Maths, English and ICT at grade C or above must also attend additional essential skills which allows for progression to Level 3.The Awarding Body for this course is City & Guilds.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above. You must also have employment with a N.Ireland registered company confirmed.

ROI Requirements

Leaving Certificate English and Maths at Grade 05 or above. You must also have employment with a N.Ireland registered company confirmed.

Work Placement

As an Apprentice you will already be employed.If you are struggling to find employment our dedicated team of Employment Liaison Officers will support you. Our Open Days are also a great opportunity to meet employers.

Typical SalariesStarter: £17,000 to £20,000Experienced: £20,000 to £30,000Highly Experienced: £30,000 to £38,000With experience and extra training, you could become a site supervisor, clerk of works or contract manager. You could also work as a trainer and assessor on tiling courses or set up your own business.
