Course Overview

This prerequisite course is designed to prepare you for the GCSE Biology course. As part of the course students must
undertake a class examination. A minimum of 80% attendance is expected. Successful candidates can progress to undertake the full GCSE course, where additional tuition and examination fees will apply.
The GCSE Biology course is divided into 3 units. Units 1& 2 include the following topics: Cells, Living Processes, Biodiversity, Body Systems, Genetics, Microorganisms and Health. Both of these units are assessed by an externally written examination. Unit 3 is an externally assessed practical skills unit.

No formal qualifications required however previous study of Science and Maths will be an advantage.

Additional Information

You can progress to further study at level 3 which in turn can lead you to a wide range of employment or higher education opportunities within Science and Health.
