Entry Requirements
UK Requirements
48 UCAS Tariff points at A Level together with a minimum of 5 passes at GCSE Grade C or above, which must include Maths and English Language or equivalent Level 2 qualification; OR National Diploma in a relevant area of study (including GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English Language or equivalent Level 2 qualification; OR University approved equivalent). Students who progress from the HNC programme to undertake a HND undertake a work placement in their second year, developing technical and employability skills. Built Environment students work on a variety of major infrastructure projects for a range of employers including Consultant Civil & Structural Engineers, Architects, Contractors and private and public bodies.
What's Next?
Further Study
Having successfully completed the HNC, students can enrol for a one year HND on dedicated pathways (which include Civil Engineering, Architecture and Surveying - Quantity Surveying) subject to meeting prescribed Level 4 module requirements. Students who complete a HND are offered second year entry to university Built Environment programmes subject to meeting university requirements. Having completed the HNC programme students may also gain Year 1 entry at university subject to meeting the universities entry criteria.Career Prospects
This is an industry recognised qualification. In developing the programme, the Awarding Body, Pearson BTEC, have aligned content to meet requirements of a number of professional bodies, including the Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and the Chartered Institute of Building. The course will prepare you for either employment in the industry with design consultants or contractors or public authorities ; or entry onto HND, leading to degree study at university. **Students who enrol on the HNC Built Environment programme are eligible to apply for an SSE Airtricity Scholarship. Successful students who meet criteria for the award receive a bursary equal to half their course fees.Enquiry
