Course Overview

This course is equivalent to GCSEs and is designed as an introduction to the health and social care sector. The course content includes: Equality and Diversity, Individual Rights, Human Lifespan Development; Skills & Qualities; Health and Social Care Values; Effective Communication, Research, Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing; Healthy Living, Human Body Systems and ICT in Health and Social Care. External visits and visiting speakers (restrictions permitting) will enable students to develop a deeper knowledge about this sector. Additional education in the area of visual awareness and sensory loss will be provided. Successful completion at the appropriate level enables students to apply for progression onto Level 3 pathways such as Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care/Health Studies/Health Sciences. Students who do not complete all the Level 2 units in one year can aim to achieve at Level 1. Students who do not hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy & Numeracy will be required to complete these during this course.
