Open College Network NI (OCN NI) Transition

OCNNI
Care & Health

Course Overview

This course is designed for those with mild to moderate learning disabilities, and provides a wide range of learning opportunities to help with employment or progression onto further courses. Classes are small with a high lecturer to student ratio, as well as classroom support staff. The aim is to provide students with the opportunity to improve educational qualifications and improve future work opportunities. For some students this means working on areas such as self-esteem, social anxiety and self-confidence. We incorporate health and wellbeing throughout the course. After two years, students will receive OCN Level 1/2 certificates in Vocational Skills and Employability Skills. All applicants will be interviewed, and parents, carers and relevant professionals may attend. During this, arrangements for meeting individual care or support needs will be discussed to ensure they are implemented effectively and that students have every opportunity to succeed on the course.Awarding bodies, depending on options, are OCN/BTEC/AQA.
