Course Overview

This course will introduce you to a number of ceramic processes and techniques with a focus on handbuilding and will develop your understanding on how to work with clay and the tools required to produce ceramic outcomes. You will be taught how to describe the changes that take place during the following processes: making, drying and firing and will develop an understanding on how to use ceramic materials safely. This is a very practical course but does require you to present a booklet or sketchbook portfolio of the taught techniques, showing your understanding on how to work with clay for your made forms. ( you will be required to take pictures as you make your work which will show the stages of making for your made outcomes, this will also be presented in your booklet/ portfolio)

Learners must be 16+ on or before the 1st July 2023 to be able to enrol on the course

Students will have access to a range of materials and equipment that will enable them to develop basic skills and knowledge in practical ceramics
