Course Overview

This course is a combination of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Principles and Design, and Manufacturing Processes and Systems. The course allows for a wide range of practical activities and opportunities for team working, incorporating a range of computer-based IT Engineering Applications. The course offers the opportunity to prepare for a range of technical and management careers in electrical/electronic engineering and manufacture engineering.In addition, the course allows for progression onto the second year of an Honours Degree programme in a related discipline.Whether you want to specialise in mechanical, manufacturing, production, aeronautical, energy supply, electronics, electrical, communications or maintenance engineering, there is a wide range of engineering opportunities available in Ireland, the UK and abroad.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

64 UCAS points ; 56 UCAS points (for Part-time); Applicants must have Level 3 passes in at least one of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Engineering, Science or Technology (or equivalent), and a minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics* and English (or University-approved equivalent**). *Certain BTEC Level 3 Maths units (as instructed on an annual basis from the Faculty) may be acceptable in lieu of GCSE Maths: **Level 2 Essential Skills in Communication is acceptable in lieu of GCSE English. Relevant Access Course: with an overall mark of at least 45%, including passes in Mathematics and a Science subject. As with all Higher Engineering courses, students require a good standard of mathematics and applied mathematics. APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) may apply for entry (see page 12 for more details)
