Course Overview

Ever thought how good it would be to discover your hidden creativity or to delve into a subject you love? Are you wanting to upskill yourself in art practice? If you are someone who would love a job in the creative industries or to develop your own artistic practice and identity, then this is the course for you! This course offers you as a student the opportunity to experience aspects of 2D and 3D Art and Design disciplines with a focus on drawing, painting, sculpture, print, digital media, contextual referencing and professional practice,(known as Fine Art disciplines). It is designed to deepen students knowledge across a broad vocational and academic base. You will be taught through a combination of studio based practical workshops and lecturers exploring processes, materials and ideas and will be encouraged to develop your own personal visual language within art and design. Attendance is one day a week in College but you are required to undertake independent study on a weekly basis. We welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually based upon experience.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

Entry Requirements: : 32 UCAS points at A-Level (must include Art or an Art related subject) together with 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) should include Art, Maths and English (Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy will also be accepted); OR Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Level 3 Art and Design Foundation Diploma or equivalent Level 3 qualification We also welcome applications from mature students who will be considered individually based on experience rather than qualifications. All students must attend for interview and present a portfolio of work

ROI Requirements

32 UCAS points to include Art at Higher Level and 4 OLC’s (Grade O4 or above) to include Art, Maths and English (Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy will also be accepted); OR Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Level 3 Art and Design Foundation Diploma or equivalent Level 3 qualification    A portfolio of work demonstrating your suitability and aptitude for this course must be presented at interview.     Minimum age for entry is normally 18, which may be waived in exceptional cases.

Further Study

On completion of the course students can progress to the BTEC L5 HND in Fine Art course at NWRC or can apply to university.
