Course Overview

This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to design and deliver safe and effective studio resistance training sessions. This course provides an excellent opportunity to enhance employability. The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to professionally prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective group exercise programmes within a gym, health club or outdoor environment.The qualification will allow instructors to deliver group-based free weight classes. Some of the elements the course will cover are, designing safe and effective resistance sessions, warm-ups, the aerobic curve, cool downs, working to music, and Motivating Clients,

YMCA Awards recommends a prerequisite qualification of Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (QCF) or any qualification within the Physical Activity Advisor category on REPs, for example Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Walking.
