Course Overview

This dynamic, multi-faceted course will provide you with a path to employment in a variety of on stage and off stage careers such as community performing arts, broadcasting, drama therapy and professional theatre. Building on your previous qualifications and experience, the course will allow you to enhance your skills in preparation for further studies at university level. Students of the course have been prize winners each year in the Northern Ireland Inter College Performing Arts Competitions. The course is delivered in our exceptionally well resourced Foyle Building, complete with a 170-seat theatre, dressing rooms, stage craft and property workshops and costume store. Lighting and sound equipment are of the highest professional standard. Numerous public performances take place here, and all students get many opportunities to be on stage or in offstage support roles. In the last few years our programme has included ambitious live theatre versions of films such as Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Shaun of the Dead and The Big Lebowski. Students with acting, dance or technical theatre experience are encouraged to apply.

What's Next?

Further Study

Students can progress in to second year in a number of drama/performing arts degree courses at UCLAN, Queens, UU and into third year at University of West of Scotland. Previous students have also progressed to further study at LAMDA, RADA, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Mountview.

Career Prospects

Students can go on to work in a variety of areas within the arts including professional acting for stage and screen, backstage industries such as stage management, lighting, set and sound design and education.
