Course Overview

The Pearson Level 4 Higher National Certificate in General Engineering (with a focus on Manufacture, Design and Quality) is designed to:• provide preparation for a range of technical and management careers in mechanical/manufacture/design/production/environmental engineering• provide specialised studies which are directly relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students intend to seek employment• enable students to make an immediate contribution in employment• provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for progression to Level 5 courses in Engineering.The course allows for a wide range of practical activities and opportunities for team working, incorporating a range of computer based Information Technology Engineering Applications. Students have access to industry-standard Design, Manufacture and Control software packages, (Solid Works, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Cosmos FEA, EdgeCAM, Pathtrace, Electronic Workbench, Multisim, IcePIC, etc..) depending on which optional modules are offered.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

32 UCAS points at GCE A level with at least one pass in a related discipline plus pass in GCSE Mathematics (or equivalent) OR a BTEC level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline OR Mature students with alternative qualifications will be considered for admission.

ROI Requirements

An Irish Leaving Certificate equivalent to 32 UCAS points (to include mathematics at O5) OR Mature students with alternative qualifications will be considered for admission.
