Course Overview

The Higher National Certificate in General Engineering has a focus on Mechanical Engineering, Manufacture and Design. This programme will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills and incorporates a range of IT applications.Assessment is 100% coursework. The course allows for a wide range of practical activities and opportunities for team working, incorporating a range of computer based IT Engineering Applications where students have access to industry-standard Design, Manufacture and Control software packages.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

UK Applicants must have achieved the equivalent of 32 UCAS Tariff points with at least one pass in a related discipline together with a minimum of 4 passes at GCSE Grade C or above, which must include Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualifications, OR A BTEC level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (including GCSE Mathematics or equivalent Level 2 qualification). ROI Applicants must have achieved an Irish Leaving Certificate equivalent to 32 UCAS points (to include mathematics at O5).Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) can be considered for mature students for entry.

Additional Information

Mature students with alternative qualifications will be considered for admission. As with all Higher Engineering courses, students require a good standard of mathematics and applied mathematics.
