Course Overview

The new RQF Higher Nationals in Healthcare Practice bring a new, responsive and refreshing approach to Higher Nationals for the Health and Social Care sector. Developed with input from employers, educators, students and service users, the new qualification offers an innovative and contemporary approach to study. The qualification focuses on the core knowledge, skills, values and behaviours required of practitioners in the sector. Work will be assessed through coursework and placement experience. A mandatory requirement is that students are deemed fit for placement. Each student must have Access NI Clearance. Students will require appropriate dress/uniform for work in health and social care setting and be deemed ‘placement ready’ by the College.

UK Requirements

64 UCAS points or equivalent plus 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include English GCSE and Maths GCSE or equivalent (Essential Skills Level 2) OR Extended Diploma – MPP profile plus 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include English GCSE and Maths GCSE or equivalent (Essential Skills Level 2); OR Access - 45%. Information Session, Access NI check and interview required Part time entry:32 UCAS points or equivalent plus 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include English GCSE (Essential Skills Level 2) OR Extended Diploma – PPP profile plus 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include English GCSE (Essential Skills Level 2); OR Access - 40%. Information Session, Access NI check and interview required

ROI Requirements

64 UCAS points or above. Students must also have English & Maths at Grade 05 and above (equivalent to pass in GCSE); Information Session and interview required. Access NI required. Note: Whilst ILC 05/D1 is acceptable for English Leaving Cert Ordinary for entry to HNC students must be made aware that they should check the criteria for progression to their universities of choice as university entry requirements vary. Part time entry: 32 UCAS points or above. Students must also have English Grade 05 and above (equivalent to pass in GCSE); Information Session and interview required. Access NI required. Work Placement

There is a mandatory work placement in this qualification of 225 hours.

This course seeks to facilitate entry to university to study courses such as Nursing and other health related courses.

Following successful completion of the HNC programme, students can progress to degree-level study in the area of health and care and/or employment in the healthcare sector.
