Course Overview

The VTCT Level 5 Certificate in Sports MassageTherapy is aimed at experienced massagetherapists who wish to develop massage skills,knowledge and understanding.This qualification will enable you to work withnon-acute recent injuries and pre-existingconditions for restorative and correctivepurposes, with focus on posture, gait,ligamentous and neural conditions.Through this qualification you will develop anin depth understanding of, and use a range ofcomplex assessment methods and complexmassage techniques. On completion of this qualification you will beable to gain employment as a Level 5 SportsMassage Practitioner using a variety of softtissue and assessment techniques. You willbe able to work with recent non-acute injuriesand pre-existing conditions. This may includeworking in clinics, for sporting teams or as amobile therapist. This may be in an employed orself-employed context.

Additional Information

Material fee of £30 also required to cover uniform and kit. You will develop the skills to conduct subjective and objective assessments, which will cover active, passive and resisted range of movements, detailed postural analysis, functional testing and special tests. You will also develop the skills to work safely and effectively on muscle and para-tendon injuries using a variety of soft tissue techniques and will be able to advise on treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair. This qualification will prepare you for employment as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of settings including; - Private health clubs and leisure centres - Sports centres and clubs - Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings.
