Course Overview
The Diploma is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists which sets the standard for journalism training in the UK. It is a requirement for entry to most areas of the profession and offers a foundation for a career in print, online, radio and television. Graduates are to be found working at the highest level in the BBC, Irish Times, Belfast Telegraph, Irish News and Newsletter as well as Highland Radio and a range of weekly newspapers. Others have gone on to careers in PR, Marketing, magazines and teaching.Most entrants will have completed, or partially completed, study at Higher Level including degrees or HNC/Ds in a range of disciplines. Applications from mature students are welcome.The course is taught by industry professionals in facilities which mirror the highest professional standards including a TV studio, two radio studios and Outside Broadcast facilities for radio and TV. Students are taught everything from interview skills to video editing, radio production, court reporting, law, social media practice and writing skills.
