Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Course Overview

Carpentry & Joinery enables you to work internally or externally on a range of projects, making furniture, stairs, and roofing systems - the variety for a skilled professional is always challenging. Finishing to a high standard and job satisfaction are integral to success. CNC engraving and milling is an additional woodcraft which you may gain experience with at NWRC. Enrichment activities include personal development workshops on mental health, road safety, and cultural diversity amongst others. Our students also have the opportunity to compete in Regional and UK Competitions with the aim of competing in World Skills. I've always wanted to learn Sign Language and this course fitted in perfectly with my full-time work. I enjoyed it so much I've decided to continue my learning next year.

I’m the only female in the class but I didn’t let this stop me from pursuing something out of my comfort zone. Tiling is a very creative trade so I curbed my hesitations by leaning on my background in Fine Art. This has helped me see things in a way others may not.
