Course Overview

This course is targeted for those currently employed in the Early Years Sector, carrying out a placement within a setting or those who are interested in returning to study within the area of Early Years. Units undertaken are; 1 : Understand Special Needs 2 Understand Factors which affect learning. 3: Understand how to support individuals with SEN including Legislation 4: Understand the roles and responsibilities of professionals working in the SEN area. 5:Understand the principles and practice of advocacy. This is not a purely strategy-based programme. Students will be expected to engage with current legislation, policy, and professional standards and to demonstrate their ability to write to a high academic standard, including the correct use of Harvard referencing.

Desirable GCSE English grade C or equivalent

Additional Information

As it is a stand alone accreditation it has a value of 4 credits. It will enable students to understand how to work with children and young people with SEN. It allows students to consider undertaking a full qualification in Level 3 Childrens Care, Learning and Development or similar course offered by NWRC. Exam fee payable at the time of enrolment.
