Congratulations to NWRC lecturer Jacqueline Turner, Course Coordinator of the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care who has been shortlisted for the UK-wide Pearson FE lecturer of the Year award.

Curriculum Manager Jacqueline MacBride, who nominated Jacqueline, described her as both an “inspirational nurse,” and an “inspirational teacher.”

Jacqueline said: “Jacqueline really cares for her students. Jacqueline is patient, empathetic, and approachable with excellent communication skills. She is enthusiastic and has a strong knowledge base. She works with students to build confidence and self-esteem in their learning and beyond, with consistent mindful practice.”

One of the highlights of Jacqueline’s work was integrating a unique and innovative project with YouthAction NI into the curriculum. This is a funded research project by the Ideas Fund that allows the students to contribute to action research on the mental health of young people. This community involvement has had far-reaching effects on the students while bringing their learning to life.
