College Updates

  • College Note - Weather Update

Due to adverse weather condition, ALL classes on Friday 19th January will be delivered ONLINE.

All College support services will also be delivered online. College buildings will be open, and scheduled examinations will take place on-campus. Students with queries on these arrangements should contact their course lecturer.

We encourage everyone to take extra care if out and about.

  • Note to College Students

As a result of coordinated planned strike action by public sector workers in Northern Ireland, including lecturers and transport workers, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 18th 2024. North West Regional College wishes to advise students of the following arrangements to the teaching of courses on this day:

    • Some college lecturers will take part in strike action. To ensure student wellbeing and safety students should not attend any campus on Thursday 18th January 2024 unless they are sitting an examination.
    • Exams planned for Thursday 18th January 2024 will run as normal unless you are contacted by the college with a rescheduled date. As public transport is not available, alternative transport arrangements should be made. Students will be required to bring a photographic ID to gain access to the exam room.
    • All day time and evening classes will be delivered remotely. Due to the nature of this strike action, the College is unable to determine whether teaching of all classes will take place online.
    • Please use your college login credentials to access the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) if your lesson is being delivered remotely. If your Lecturer has not logged-in within 15 minutes of the lesson start time, then please be advised that the lesson will therefore not take place.
    • Students on Part-Time and evening classes are advised that many of these classes will not take place - unless you are contacted by the College and advised of alternative arrangements. If you have not been contacted, your class will not take place.
    • Students with work placements already confirmed Thursday, January 18th should continue to attend as required.
    • All apprentices should remain at work.
    • College buildings will open at 8.15 am and will close at 5:15 pm. General access to classrooms will not be available on Thursday, January 18th 2024.
    • College support services (inc. Admissions, Student Services/Finance, Safeguarding, Learning Link, Careers) will move online and remain unaffected and will be available as normal on Thursday, January 18th 2024.
    • Limited catering provision will be available.
    • EMA student finance and funding will be unaffected for eligible students.

The College wishes to apologise to all students for any inconvenience these changes may cause. It is our intention to endeavour to cover all aspects of lost work during the academic year to ensure the full curriculum is delivered.
