Course Overview

Learners who complete the qualification successfully will have a comprehensive range of knowledge and practical skills and will be able to apply as a bookkeeper in a variety of job roles. They will have a knowledge and understanding of the services offered to businesses by banks and building societies and methods by which businesses make and receive payment. They will also have the skills required to prepare, check and use the source documents from which business transactions are processed. They will develop skills that will enable them to classify income and expenditure and manually record cash, credit and receipt and payment transactions in a sub-divided bookkeeping system using main books, subsidiary books and books of prime entry. They will acquire the skills to be able to check the accuracy of their work and identify errors in the bookkeeping system by preparing a trial balance, sales and purchase ledger control accounts and bank and cash reconciliations. They will also be able to correct bookkeeping errors and redraft a trial balance following the correction of errors.The qualification is made up of:2 – Online Knowledge Tests2 – Online Assignments1 – Online Examination.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

The Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping qualification is specifically aimed at learners who wish to further their studies in manual bookkeeping and who want to gain a Level 2 qualification either from a point of previous practical knowledge, or having already achieved the IAB Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping. Prospective entrants must have acquired basic skills in numeracy and literacy prior to starting their studies and have a prior knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and the skills to perform basic bookkeeping tasks.Learners without English as a first language must hold IELTS 5.0 or other evidence of competence in English at this level. This course is taught in English.

Additional Information

Learners must pay an additional annual membership fee of £50.00 directly to IAB to be able to undertake their online test & assignments for this qualification. This fee is not included in the course fees. This annual membership will also cover the costs for online assignments or tests taken by the learner for any other IAB qualifications within the year.
