Course Overview

This innovative course, based on industry needs, will give you the opportunity to develop business enterprise knowledge and business skills and an employment experience. A key feature of this course is the work based learning which provides the opportunity to work in a company on a ‘live’ project. Students find this aspect of the course particularly interesting and very useful. Knowledge and skills will be gained through activities and application to ‘real world’ business issues and opportunities. Practical aspects of people management, marketing and finance will feature strongly in related modules. The course provides students with opportunities to develop and enhance their range of personal and interpersonal transferable skills which are vital to success in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

64 UCAS points + GCSE Maths Grade C or equivalent) and GCSE English Grade C or equivalent Access - 50% (which includes Level 2 in Communications & Mathematics)

ROI Requirements

64 UCAS points equivalent + OLC (Grade O4 or above) in English and Maths or equivalent. Access - 50% (which includes Level 2 in Communications & Mathematics)

Work Placement

Work placement takes place in the second year of the course, 2 - 3 days per week over 24 weeks (for full time students). For part time students it takes place both in year 1 and in year 2.

Further Study

Validated by Ulster University the Foundation Degree is an Ulster University degree in its own right but also provides the opportunity to progress to the final year of the Honours Business degree at Magee (after successful completion of a summer bridging module subject to entry criteria). Students who choose this option would complete a BSc Hons Business degree in 3 years full time study (2 years NWRC plus 1 year Magee).
