The OCN NI Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities qualifications will enable the learner to develop skills and knowledge to support individuals with learning disabilities.Qualifications’ ObjectivesThe objectives of the qualifications are to enable the learner to understand:• the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities• the principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities• the mental wellbeing and mental health promotion in supporting individuals with learning disabilities• effective communication within health and social care settings• the theory and practice of supporting individuals with autistic spectrum conditions

The qualification is targeted at learners who have a desire to undertake roles which support individuals with learning disabilities. It may also be of interest to those who wish to enhance their current skills and knowledge in relation to an existing support role.Learners must be at least 16 years of age and have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to successfully complete the qualificationsTarget LearnersThe qualifications are targeted at learners who have a desire to undertake roles which support individuals with learning disabilities. It may also be of interest to those who wish to enhance their current skills and knowledge in relation to an existing support role.

Additional Information

The OCN NI Level 3 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities enables progression to the OCN NI Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities and then into other further learning and/or employment opportunities within the Health and Social Care or related sectors
