Course Overview
The aim of this qualification is for learners to gain the practical competence and knowledge that is relevant to the role of a Registered Veterinary Nurse. This qualification will provide learners with the practical competence and underpinning knowledge required to join the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses. It has been designed to develop Veterinary Nurses who have a holistic approach to their work, a passion for making a difference to the lives of animals, and a solid understanding of their professional responsibilities. A requirement of the professional regulator (RCVS) is that Student Veterinary Nurses must undertake substantial work-based training in approved training practices. This qualification will support the training and education of Veterinary Nurses for entry onto the RCVS register. How is the qualification assessed? Throughout the two years, learners will compile an e-portfolio of evidence to demonstrate the practical applications of learning in the workplace. Learners must complete assignments/case studies to demonstrate knowledge and understanding alongside multiple choice online examinations. Learners undertake Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) during the final year of the course.
