Course Overview

This course allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Wall and Floor Tiling. Throughout the course, you will develop the knowledge required to understand the processes and procedures while learning the hands-on skills required to become a competent wall and floor tiler. You will develop the knowledge and skills in wall and floor tiling by undertaking such units as:• Health and Safety• Preparing Backgrounds for Tiling• Forming sand and cement screeds• Tile Wall Surfaces• Tile Floor Surfaces Our students also have the opportunity to compete in Regional and UK Competitions with the aim of representing your country at World Skills. To succeed every NWRC student requires determination, an interest in the subject, commitment to your studies and a good work ethic. Students who enter the programme without Maths, English and ICT at grade C or above must also attend additional essential skills which allows for progression to Level 3.The Awarding Body for this course is City & Guilds.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

Apprenticeship - GCSE Maths and English at Grade D or above/equivalent Ess.skills . You must also have employment with a N.Ireland registered company confirmed by 31/07/2026. Applicants without ICT @ Level 2 must commit to additional class for this to be achieved in first year of programme. PT evening ICT classes at NWRC available prior to September 2026. This course will run subject to numbers or alternatively it will be consolidated to run in one of the campuses.

Work Placement

Students will be required to attend work experience which will be organised on a weekly basis or in blocks throughout the calendar year. It may be the case in house college work placement may also be an provided.
