From here to career - Daniel's story!
A huge welcome to our former student Daniel Diver who returned to the college this week to deliver a masterclass to the 2025/2026 cohort of Hospitality students.
Daniel who now runs his own business - previously studied the NVQ in Multi Skills, and the Level 1, 2 and 3 Professional Chefs Diploma at Strand Road campus before going on to local hotel management.
As well as running his own business Daniel also shares his recipes and techniques on social media – and can count Nigella Lawson as a fan as she has liked and shared his recipe on her own social channels.
During his visit to the college Daniel cooked smokey bacon and sweet potato soup with wheaten bread focusing on cooking to cater for people with food intolerances.
“I have a real passion for baking,” he said “and it’s so important that you can create food that everyone can enjoy. I am also very passionate about sustainability and want to show the students that it is possible to use all your ingredients up and avoid waste.
Reflecting on his return to the college, Daniel said, “I thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with my former lecturers and the supportive kitchen staff. This college remains a brilliant place to learn for anyone interested in pursuing a career in hospitality.”
