Holly is Travel Student of the Year

NWRC student Holly Barrie-Herron who has just completed the Foundation Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management has been named NI Travel Student of the Year.

Holly, who attended the finals with her tutor Luane Quigley, finished top out of the final 4. Holly and Luane will now attend the NI Travel and Tourism Awards on October 14 in the Slieve Donard Hotel.

Holly, who secured employment at J & K Coaches for her placement while studying for the Foundation Degree has now secured full-time employment with the firm.

She said: “After my A-Levels I worked for several years in Liverpool before returning home to study at NWRC.

“I’m delighted to have won this award and I’d like to thank my lecturers and especially Luane Quigley who have supported me so much.

“I’d say to anyone who’s thinking about working in Hospitality and Tourism to just go for it. The industry is just growing and this is the time to be getting into it.”
