With this Diploma you can start your career as a medical administrator or a secretary, helping patients and providing vital support for doctors and other healthcare professionals. This course is designed for those wishing to work as receptionists in any section of the health services, including general medicine and dental practices, hospitals (including wards and medical records clerks) and opticians. If you do not hold a level 2 qualification in Numeracy or Literacy you will be given the opportunity to complete these during the course to enhance your employability and progression prospects. A number of mandatory units are required to be completed along with a number of optional units which have been selected to enhance skills, knowledge and employability opportunities. A period of work placement will also be offered in a medical environment which will enhance employment opportunities and help develop your knowledge and skills in this vital area.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

4 GCSEs Grade D-G or above to include Maths Grade E and English Grade D or above.If you dont meet the enhanced Maths and English grade you may be eligible for the introductory phase of Traineeship.

ROI Requirements

4 OLCs Grade O5 - O8 or above to include Maths Grade O6 and English O5 or above. Applicants presenting with a Junior Cert or Junior Cycle qualification should have attained a majority of higher-level subjects including English and Maths If you dont meet the enhanced Maths and English grade you may be eligible for the introductory phase of Traineeship.

Work Placement

You will be expected to complete a period of work placement in a GP surgery, hospital or other medical environment where you will complete a number of work-based units in order to achieve the full qualification.

This course can progress you directly into employment or onto a level 3 in Business Administration.
