Course Overview

If you have a passion for music, but are more interested in working behind the scenes, then our production pathway is the course for you. We focus on four main strands of work within the industry: music production, composition, studio and live music production. We also offer optional modules in DJ’ing, and instrumental and vocal performers may be able to work alongside the performers in the performance pathway in band /ensemble modules (subject to availability).You will have access to two studios, apple macs with industry standard software, 5 practice rooms and a 170 seat theatre. You will be given the opportunity to learn and develop technical and creative skills as well as knowledge and insight into the workings of the modern music industry. Lecturers are highly experienced practitioners who continue to work in the music industry. Assessments are practical and always related to current industry standards and practices. You will be encouraged to collaborate with your classmates and with students from the wider college community.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent (e.g. level 2 Diploma) plus satisfactory standard achieved at mandatory interview.

ROI Requirements

4 OLCs (Grade 05 or above); OR Leaving Cert Applied – Merit plus satisfactory standard achieved at mandatory interview.

Further Study

This course will enable students to progress to higher level courses such as our own HND in Music Production or to a degree course at university.

This course will provide you with an opportunity to gain a qualification and skills which can lead to working in the industry straight away.
