Engineering (Panel Wiring) (Level 2 Apprenticeship NI Diploma)

OCNNI
Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Course Overview

The Switchgear and Panel Building Apprenticeship is designed to develop skilled technicians capable of assembling, wiring, testing, and commissioning low voltage electrical switchgear and control panels to industry standards. The programme combines structured off the job technical training with on the job learning in the workplace, ensuring apprentices gain both theoretical knowledge and practical competence. Apprentices will develop core skills in electrical principles, schematic interpretation, panel layout and design, containment systems, cable termination, and component selection. The course places strong emphasis on quality, safety, and compliance, including adherence to relevant standards, regulations, and industry best practice. Learners will also gain experience in fault finding, inspection, testing, and documentation, preparing them for real world manufacturing and installation environments. Throughout the apprenticeship, apprentices are supported to build a robust portfolio of evidence demonstrating occupational competence. On completion, learners will be able to work effectively as part of a panel manufacturing or electrical engineering team, contributing to the production of safe, reliable, and compliant switchgear assemblies. This apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for sustained employment and progression within the electrical and manufacturing engineering sectors.

I played the part of Jesus in the college’s 2024 production of Superstar Live. The audition was intense, but I had a feeling I got the part as I had the right physical look. It was such a brilliant experience performing in front of a live audience!
