UK Requirements

Some prior experience with gym-based exercises, including the use of free weights, is strongly recommended.The course involves practical physical activity, and full participation is essential; therefore, learners must possess an appropriate level of physical fitness.The qualification includes elements of communication (discussion, presentation, reading, and writing). Learners should have basic communication skills at Level 2.Target Learners - Individuals aged 16 and above. - Learners aiming to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry as gym-based fitness instructors.

Additional Information

This qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to plan, deliver, and supervise safe, effective exercise programmes within a gym or health club environment. Throughout the qualification, learners will develop competence in the following areas: Anatomy, physiology, and nutrition, and their application to exercise and fitness. Health and safety requirements within the fitness environment. Client and group inductions in a gym-based setting, including strategies to support exercise adherence and promote healthy lifestyle behaviours. Planning, instructing, and supervising safe and effective exercise and physical activity sessions. Professional standards expected within fitness instructing. Personal and professional development to support ongoing growth within the sector. Delivering exceptional customer service in a fitness environment.
