Course Overview
This course is aimed at learners who are interested in developing skills, knowledge and understanding for working in the field of Health and Social Care. Learners can exit at the end of Year 1, obtaining a National Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care or progress onto Year 2, to achieve the full National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. Learners can expect to develop strong interpersonal and communication skills and develop knowledge of roles and responsibilities, of professionals working in the sector. Learners will study 13 units over two years that will help provide a strong foundation in care. Key themes such as safeguarding, health and safety and compassionate care values will be explored. Units are internally and externally assessed by coursework and exams (2 exams in year 1; 2 exams in year 2). Learners should expect to attend classes delivered over 4 days per week. Learners applying to the course without a pass qualification in Maths/ Numeracy or ICT will be required to attend Essential Skills classes as part of the course.
