Entry Requirements
UK Requirements
UK Entry Requirements: You must be a minimum of 19 years of age on 1 July in year of entry and have been away from full-time education for at least two years. For part time study, applicants must provide evidence of basic competence in written and oral communication in English and Numeracy skills. Applicants without GCSE English Language Grade C/4 or GCSE Mathematics Grade C/4 or above, or acceptable equivalent are advised to independently study for GCSE English Language/ Essential Skills Level 2, Communication and GCSE Mathematics/Essential Skills Level 2 Application of Number or acceptable equivalent (depending on University requirements). Applicants should also check (at the beginning of the Access Diploma) with the Admissions Office/Service of the University of their choice to clarify the requirements for English and Mathematics for their chosen degree course. Applications for part time study (2 years part time) for students who have been away from full-time education for a sustained period of time (minimum two consecutive academic years) immediately prior to commencing the Access Diploma will be considered. An interview is also required. International applicants- If English is not your first language you must satisfy the College requirements for IELTS scores or acceptable equivalent. Entrance Qualifications (ROI): You must be a minimum of 19 years of age on 1 July in year of entry and have been away from full-time education for at least two years. Applicants without Irish Leaving Certificate Ordinary Level, English at Grade 04 and Mathematics at Grade 04 or above, or acceptable equivalent should study Essential Skills Level 2, Communication and Application of Number/ GCSE English Language and Mathematics independently in addition to the course (depending on University requirements). Applicants who have already achieved Essential Skills Level 2, Communication and Application of Number or equivalent should check (at the beginning of the Access Diploma) with the Admissions Office/Services of the University of their choice to ensure these qualifications fulfil the entrance requirements for their chosen Universities. Applications for part time study (2 years part time) for students who have been away from full-time education for a sustained period of time (minimum two consecutive academic years) immediately prior to commencing the Access Diploma will be considered. An interview is also required. Study Progression:
Applicants may apply to study Foundation Degree / HNC or other degree level study. It can also help you progress to professional education courses such as nursing, midwifery, social work, youth/community work, occupational therapy and other degree courses in the social science/ health studies field.
Future Career Opportunities:
Nursing – all branches – starting at Band 5 £27,055 – £32,934. Midwifery - starting at £27,055 depending on allocated pay band and experience. Social Work – starting at £27,055 depending on allocated pay band and experience.
