Course Overview

The Level 2 Traineeship will enable you to achieve a qualification which is comparable to 4 GCSEs. The practical nature of the course will introduce you to the computer industry and gives you an insight into a range of available careers. It gives you an insight into the IT industry with a view to further study or employment. The vocational elements of the course are assessed with coursework covering a broad range of IT skills, including Graphic Design, Web Site Development, 2D Games Dev., IT Application Creation. The Traineeship will contain, within 1 year, OCN-NI Transversal Skills at Level 2, Essential Skills Numeracy and Literacy.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

4 GCSEs Grades D-G to include Maths and English Grade D.

ROI Requirements

4 OLCs Grades O5-O8 to include Maths and English Grade O5.

Additional Requirements Prior to Entry

Attendance at Information Session

Work Placement

60 hours of placement or simulated placement to be carried out over the year either as blocks or a small number of hours per week.

Further Study

The qualification will allow you to choose your progression route from a wide range of Level 3 Diploma courses at NWRC depending on the results obtained from the Vocational Qualification, Essential Skills Qualifications and T Skills qualifications.

Career Prospects

The qualification can be the first steps towards a career in as a Web Designer, A Software Developer, a Systems Administrator, a Graphic Designer or a career within Information Technology.
