Course Overview

This short preparatory course provides a strong foundation for progression to GCSE Biology. Learners are required to complete an in-class assessment at the end of this 8-week course, and a minimum attendance of 90% is expected. Successful completion of the in-class assessment enables progression to the full GCSE Biology course starting in November, for which additional tuition and examination fees apply. The GCSE Biology course is divided into 3 units. Units 1 & 2 include the following topics: Cells, Living Processes, Biodiversity, Body Systems, Genetics, Microorganisms and Health. Both of these units are assessed by an externally written examination. Unit 3 is an externally assessed practical skills unit.

Important Message

Fees must be paid at the time of enrolment, or arrangements should be put in place to pay by instalments. The full fee includes tuition, registration and examination fees (where relevant). Depending on your circumstances you may be entitled to a reduced (concessionary) fee. Reduced fees are applied to the cost of tuition only. Failure to enrol before the Awarding Body deadline may result in you incurring a late fee.

No formal qualifications required however previous study of Science and Maths will be an advantage.

Additional Information

You can progress to further study at level 3 which in turn can lead you to a wide range of employment or higher education opportunities within Science and Health.
