Course Overview
This short preparatory course provides a strong foundation for progression to GCSE Chemistry. Learners are required to complete an in-class assessment at the end of this 8-week course, and a minimum attendance of 90% is expected. Successful completion of the in-class assessment enables progression to the full GCSE Chemistry course starting in November, for which additional tuition and examination fees apply. The GCSE Chemistry course is divided into 3 units. Unit 1 includes the following topics: Structures, Trends, Chemical Reactions, Quantitative Chemistry and Analysis. Unit 2 includes the following topics: Further Chemical Reactions, Rates and Equilibrium, Calculations and Organic Chemistry. Both of these units are assessed by an externally written examination. Unit 3 is an externally assessed practical skills unit.
