Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

Learners must hold a suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing (or an equivalent qualification). This programme is designed for individuals aged 16 years and above.The course involves practical physical activity, and active participation is required. Learners must therefore have an appropriate level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the course.The qualification includes elements of communication and numeracy—such as discussion, presentation, reading, writing, and basic mathematics. Learners should have communication and maths skills at a minimum of Level 2.

Additional Information

This qualification further develops learners who already possess foundational knowledge and skills in gym instruction, enabling them to progress into a career in personal training. Throughout the programme, learners will cover the following areas: Advanced anatomy and physiology relevant to personal training. Nutrition for exercise, health, and fitness. Lifestyle and medical factors influencing overall wellbeing. Effective communication skills for client consultations, including strategies that support behaviour change and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. The skills required to plan and deliver physical activity sessions for a range of clients, in varied environments, using diverse resources. Legal and professional requirements associated with personal training practice. How to establish and manage a self-employed personal training business, where applicable. Methods to manage, evaluate, and enhance personal performance.
