North West Regional College (NWRC) has become the first Further Education college in Northern Ireland to install the innovative Senso Cube, designed to support the emotional wellbeing of students.

The college recently put in place two Senso Cubes at their campuses in Limavady and Strand Road which are available to students for independent use.

Provided by local company Creative Activity – the Senso Cube has been described as a ‘game changer’ when it comes to sensory room innovation.

It creates a modular sensory space in otherwise busy and overly stimulating environments. The cube is fully soundproof - providing a private and peaceful retreat for those in need of quiet calm or relaxation.

Helen McGonigal, Learning Support Co-Ordinator at NWRC said: “As the first FE college in Northern Ireland and the first college in the North West to install Senso Cubes, NWRC is delighted to be leading the way in supporting the emotional wellbeing of students.

At NWRC we promote an inclusive teaching and learning environment for all. We welcome students with a range of additional needs including sensory processing.

“The cubes are a sensory space that offer a soothing and calming environment for all students. We were pleased to partner with local company ‘Creative Activity’ to design this space to support student learning and make their time on campus as comfortable as possible.”
