NWRC recruits for HerFuture Programme

14 week programme

North West Regional College (NWRC) is seeking applicants for an innovative employability programme empowering women to re-enter the labour market into aspiring supervisory or management roles.  

This 14-week HerFuture Programme will begin on Wednesday 18th February at the college’s Strand Road Campus and will provide women with an OCN NI Level 3 Award Business Administration qualificationSupported by the Skills Fund, Delivering the Minister’s Economic Vision.

NWRC Business Development Executive Jane Fleming explained: "This programme is great for women of any age who may have been out of work or experienced a career break through childcare, health or caring commitments. This programme will support their journey back into the labour market and could be the start of new opportunities."

Candidates must be able to fully commit to 14 weeks as required of a part-time course.

NWRC Curriculum Manager for Business Administration Luane Quigley added: ‘’This programme is a potential route into employment with a built-in placement. There is great demand for administration roles across all sectors and great opportunities for a progression route for woman into IT roles. The course includes content such as business legislation, written and verbal business correspondence, teamwork, business travel and accommodation and using office equipment.’’

Successful applicants will also be given an 8-week placement with a local company which is incorporated into the 14-week programme.

One of the participants who recently completed the HerFuture programme said: ‘’The skills that I have learned throughout the programme has helped me to secure employment in an administrative job after previously working in retail for many years and wanting a career change. I really enjoyed the work placement aspect of the course as this is where I secured employment. I also found the tutors and my classmates helpful and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend this programme to anyone interested in looking to return to the world of work particularly within administration.’’
