Freshers' Week & Induction
Your NWRC experience begins each year with Fresher’s Week and Induction activities which are run by our Student Services.
Freshers' Week
Students can take part in our 2023 Freshers' Week, from 12noon to 2pm.
- Tue 12 September - Strand Road Campus
- Wed 13 September - Limavady Campus
- Thu 14 September - Springtown and Strabane Campus
Students can obtain relevant information and resources at our freshers' fairs, such as; SU Election details, Clubs & Societies, Money Tips, Job info, Freebies and refreshments, with entertainment also provided.
Content for Freshers' is still being devised, and suggestions welcome from our curriculum partners.
Student Induction
These activities will share information on key areas of the College, including:
- The Students' Union
- Student Finance
- Careers Academy
- Safeguarding
- Learning Link
- Library
- Health & Wellbeing
Interactivity will be the key, with a range of prizes and rewards will be on offer for participation.
Talk, Don't Walk
Student Services run a campaign over the first six weeks to encourage students to communicate with the careers team, if they feel they are on the wrong programme.
Instead of deciding to withdraw, we want you to communicate and not just leave the course. We inform students of our 'Talk, Don't Walk' campaign during their induction activities and provide support to help those you feel like they are struggling.

Returning Students (Refreshers Week)
These events are for our returning students and run similar to Induction, and usually delivered on Week 2 of the academic calendar.
Refreshers is primarily directed at the following returning groups due to current low retention. The plan is to run specific team building activities to improve in year retention.
Part-Time and Induction week will run from Week 3 in the academic calendar.
