Meet Ben, who decided to switch from A-Levels to study Hospitality at NWRC, as it offered the specialised training and facilities required to obtain a career in the Hospitality & Catering industry. He says his goal is to become a professional chef.
I chose to study at NWRC because it was the best place to learn about the world of hospitality! The facilities at the College are great and I’ve gained lots of experience working with the public.
Why did you choose to study Hospitality at NWRC?
Before I began my studies at NWRC I was studying towards my A Levels at Oakgrove Integrated College in English Literature, Religious Education and Travel & Tourism. After completing my As Levels I chose to study at NWRC because it was the best place for me to learn about the world of hospitality! The facilities in the College are great and I’ve gained lots of experience working with the public. It is such a great atmosphere to learn in!
Tell us more about your course
My course has many elements which includes both practical and theory-based learning. First, the Brasserie where I learn food services and how to work with the public. Second is in the kitchen where I am being taught how to cook professionally and all of the different methods required (cutting styles etc.) And the final part of my studies is the theory aspect. This is where all the knowledge gets put to the test.
What are your future plans?
My plan after NWRC is to keep on progressing my skills and further my career is the hospitality industry. My goal is to become a great chef one day and studying at NWRC is definitely putting me in that direction.
Would you recommend this course to other students?
I would 100% recommend this course to anyone hoping to get into the hospitality work either as a member of front of house or becoming a chef. It’s great fun.
