Course Overview

Accounting Technicians Ireland provides an accounting qualification that is recognised by industry as one of the leading accounting qualifications in Ireland. Diploma modules bring you to the next level in your accounting studies. On successful completion of all modules you will become an affiliate member of ATI, and maintain your affiliation while you complete the work experience requirements of the qualification. You will study 4 modules: Advanced Financial Accounting, Advanced Taxation, Management Accounting and Financial Data Management. Assessment is 100% exam based with an online exam for each module to be undertaken in May/June with the opportunity to resit any failed modules in August.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

Successful completion of the Level 4 Certificate for Accounting Technicians modules to include Taxation, Financial Accounting and either Business Law or Business Management. In order to gain the full Level 5 Diploma, all Level 4 and Level 5 modules must be achieved.

Further Study

If pathways to HLA level 6 - 7 studies exist then participants may wish to consider continuing their progression as a Higher Level Apprentice. Graduates can use their qualification as a stepping stone to Higher-Level Professional Accounting, Taxation or Degree Programmes. Graduates from this programme can benefit from exemptions offered by all of the main accountancy bodies: - Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) -Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) -Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA) -Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) - Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) There is also the opportunity to transfer to the penultimate or final year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance from the following higher education institutions: -Athlone Institute of Technology -Cork Institute of Technology -Dublin Business School -Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. An additional route after achievement of your Level 5 Accounting Technician Diploma is the Level 6 BSc (Hons) in Accounting Technology validated by the Open University delivered through the ATI. It is designed for Northern Ireland’s finance and business environment. This work-based degree enables learners to lead in areas like digital finance, ESG reporting and business transformation whereby you will become a Certified Accounting Technologist (CIATA). This will enable you to apply your skills in live finance environments, learning from mentors and solving real-world challenges. This 2-year course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy (NI).
