Course Overview

This course is suitable for students and artists who already have basic painting skills and wish to expand upon their skills. The course will allow you to explore painting techniques and will teach you how to use appropriate materials safely. During the course you will be encouraged to experiment with paint and mixed media methods as a means of expression to help develop your own painting methods. During the course 2 units of study will be taught and you will be required to put together a portfolio of work for assessment at the end of semester 1 and 2

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

There are no formal requirements for this course but learners must be 16 years of age on or before 1st July on year of entry.

Additional Information

Learners will be taught how to work with acrylic, water colour and oil paints to created individual art works. For assessment learners will be required to present a sketch book showing idea development, research and notations on taught painting processes, plus final art works will be required for assessment - a digital copy of the sketch book will also be required for assessment 2 units of study will be taught ( 6 credits) and assessment will be internal with external moderation by OCN NI. assessment is pass or fail. Students must supply their own materials. A material list will be given at the start of the course
