The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to prevent and resolve common issues related to diesel engine failure. You will gain a clear understanding of the key systems in a marine diesel engine and learn how to troubleshoot and rectify defects that do not require workshop support.Mechanical failure is a leading cause of lifeboat callouts for yachts. By completing this course, you will be better prepared to conduct basic maintenance and engine care, significantly reducing the risk of engine failure while at sea.This course is essential for ensuring reliable engine performance and increasing safety during maritime operations.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course but it highly recommended that applicants have some level of knowledge for seamanship. Candidates must be 16 years old by 1st July on year of entry.
