Course: University Access Diploma in Health and Welfare (Part-Time)

Meet Adam, a part-time Access student at Strand Road campus. After completing his course he plans to progress to a career in Nursing. He says one of the reasons he choose his course was the flexible study options it provided.

I chose to study the Access Diploma as I am looking to pursue a career in Nursing and this course will allow me to progress to University. I am completing my course part-time, while also working full-time.

Previous education before you came to NWRC?

I studied at the NWRC straight after school from 2017-2019 when I studied the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Forensic Science). Before that I was studying at Foyle College.

Why did you choose the Access course with NWRC?

I chose to study the Access Diploma as I am looking to pursue a career in Nursing and this course will allow me to progress to University and further my studies.

-----

Tell us a bit more about your course

My course is very interesting and gives a good overall knowledge on the Healthcare sector. I am currently on my final year of a 2 year course. I am completing this course part-time along with full time work.

-----

What do you plan to do afterwards?

I plan to go to Ulster University at Magee to study Nursing.

-----

Would you recommend your course to other students?

For anyone who has been out of education for a while and isn’t sure about coming back to study, an Access course is perfectly coordinated so that lessons are not overwhelming. The lecturers and teachers have so much time for the students to lend support and guidance. I would highly recommend my course!
